Ode to a Dutch Oven

Dutch Oven 067 Excuse me while I wax poetic about my Dutch oven. You see, for so long I passed over some pretty impressive recipes because I didn't have one. It's not that I didn't want one, it's just that I thought that the only one worth purchasing was Le Creuset. With a price tag of around $365.00 I couldn't justify the cost.

Calm the After-School Hunger Monster

The kids started back to school last week.  When they walk in the door after the bus ride home, they are famished.  It's sort of like watching locusts clear out a field.  The only way to prepare is to have something to shove in their hands before they head for the pantry.

Ranch Dressing

I love a good salad.  I know it sounds strange, but there are times when I actually CRAVE a salad.  Especially in the winter when the vegetables consist of roots and it gets dark at 5 p.m., or earlier depending on where you live in the world.

I don't want to preach, but have you ever looked at the ingredients on a bottle of salad dressing? They are a little disturbing.  And it really doesn't taste all that good.

An Update for my Friends

Hello, Pleasantly Plump Gourmet Friends!

I'm sure you were beginning to wonder if I had fallen off the face of the planet and taken your favorite granola with me.

I'm still on the planet and still working to get you your goody fix. Truth be told, I made a commitment to my family way before I decided to start a business.  I thought that summer time would be a perfect time to get things started.  Turns out my kids needed me more than I thought.

An Idyllic Life

I have a vision for the next phase of my life.  You see, my kids are getting older.  I’m not feeding an infant every 3 hours. I’m not changing diapers.  Everyone can dress themselves.  I have a bit more freedom to do the things I want to do.

And I want a farm.

Yes, you heard right.  A farm.

My Favorite Rice Pudding Recipe

Rice Pudding

My husband's favorite treat is rice pudding.  I used to buy it in little tubs for him at the supermarket.

Inspiration hit one night after I put some leftover rice in the refrigerator.  What was I going to do with it?

They say the way to a man's heart is through his stomach.  I would surprise him with his favorite treat. Homemade!
